On Thursday, January 28th, 2016, the Path Ahead
workshops of the American Language Center of Agadir presented the first Open
Mic event of the year at the ALC Community Center in Battoir, Agadir. Hosted by the Path Ahead's moderator,
Iskandar Soekardi, the session featured readings of original and classic
poetry, as well as open discussions on creativity, the state of modern
education, and sacred language. While
sipping on Moroccan mint tea, the attendees felt comfortable in the space,
which had a living room atmosphere and warmth, to open up and share touching
sentiments. The spirits of Jelaluddin
Rumi, Yunus Emre, and Edgar Allen Poe were felt in the morning air. It was clearly an inspiring event for all,
and perhaps the start of a new, beautiful network of artists and thinkers.
